Hardscape design includes the layout of, transitions between,  and material selection for driveways, pools and decks, patios, porches, pergolas, retaining walls, water features, outdoor kitchens, outdoor showers, ornamental boulders, and pathways. 

We are experts in subtropical ecology. Phyla prioritizes native, pollinator attracting, drought-tolerant species. Plants are selected for their suitability to a site, maintenance requirements, and client's aesthetic preference. Although our values remain true across all projects, Phyla Studio is versatile in various landscape design styles from the wild and rustic to formal and modern. We enjoy specialty landscapes including edible gardens, rare palm collections, orchid collections, and aquatic gardens.

A well-designed irrigation system is crucial for the longevity of one's garden. Efficient irrigation systems reduce water consumption. Irrigation plans are often required in order to receive a building permit. 

Landscape lighting can elevate a garden dramatically. Lighting plans take into consideration specimen plants, pathways, and architecture to strategically illuminate key features, guide site circulation, and improve site security.

Our work doesn’t stop at the design phase. Phyla can work with you to solicit and review construction and installation bids. We often work with landscape installers to select quality planting and construction materials for our clients. We also observe the installation process to facilitate a final product that matches your design plans.
